Simple Construction Project Management Software

Most construction project management software is built for large general contractors. It assumes dedicated project controls staff, formal schedules, and budgets for enterprise licensing. A small contractor evaluating the same category often needs something narrower.

Simple construction project management should start from the job site. A site is the unit of work: it has a location, a crew, a task list, a daily record, and a set of hours. If the software organizes those records per site, the everyday questions become answerable: who is on site, what is in progress, what happened today, and how many hours are owed.

The second quality of simple software is connection. Attendance, tasks, daily reports and payroll should read from the same records rather than being separate modules that must be reconciled. When a worker checks in at the site, that event should appear in the daily report and, at period end, in payroll, without re-entry.

The third quality is access. A small crew should not need to install and manage a native app or purchase enterprise seats. A browser-based web app that runs on the phones the crew already carries removes the adoption barrier.
